Harry Kane won the Ballon d’Or for the first time in his career on Monday (October 26) in a ceremony held in London. The Englishman is the first player from his country to seal the prize since Michael Owen in 2001. He is also the first Bayern Munich player since 1981 to clinch the prize. Moreover, the 33-year-old has become the first player from the Bundesliga to win the prize since 1996.
Kylian Mbappe finished second while Lamine Yamal was third. Rodri and Lionel finished fourth and fifth after their heroics in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Kane had a remarkable season in which he scored 61 goals for Bayern Munich in all competitions while also scoring six times for England on their way to the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-final. He also won the Men’s Striker of the Year award for scoring the most goals in the 2025-26 season. In fact, his tally of 61 goals for Bayern was 19 more than anyone else in Europe’s Top five leagues.

Meanwhile, the Women’s Ballon d’Or went to Alexia Putellas for the third time in her career. The Barcelona star had previously won the prize in 2021 and 2022. She is the second player in history to win the award thrice after her Spanish national team and club teammate Aitana Bonmatí.
Yamal won the Men’s Kopa Award (best young talent award) for the third time in a row after winning the prize in 2024 and 2025 too. Remarkably, no player before him had won the prize even twice, while he has now become the first player to complete a hat-trick of wins.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) also created history by securing the Men’s Club of the Year award for the second time in a row. They are the first team to win the elusive prize in successive years. Meanwhile, Barcelona won the Women’s Club of the Year award after winning the Women’s UEFA Champions League earlier this year.
