Rakesh Trehan, an Amritsar businessman and social media influencer, popularly known as ‘Raja D King’, has announced an ‘iPhone Langar’ under which iPhones will be given away to selected winners in Chandigarh and Mohali. The idea has since gained significant attention among netizens.
The giveaway is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 22, with Trehan saying the distribution will be conducted live in the presence of the media and members of the public.
In a video message announcing the event, Trehan clarified that the giveaway will be limited to iPhone 17 models and newer versions. He specifically said that iPhone 16 models will not be distributed as part of the initiative.
The businessman had announced the ‘iPhone Langar’ in August, but the date for the event was finalised on Friday, coinciding with the start of iPhone 18 sales in India.
How To Participate In The iPhone Langar
According to Trehan, a WhatsApp group has been created for people interested in participating in the giveaway. Those selected as winners will receive a phone call informing them that they have won an iPhone.
Trehan said there is only one eligibility condition for members of the group. Participants have to write ‘Jai Mata Di’ in the group, and the winners will be selected from among those who have posted the phrase.
The initial giveaway is intended for residents of Chandigarh and Mohali. Trehan added that 10 more cities will be announced on September 22 as the initiative expands.
100 iPhones Already Ordered
Trehan claimed that he has already placed an order for 100 iPhone 17 units for the giveaway. He also said arrangements have been discussed for distributing as many as 1,000 iPhones as the initiative expands.
The initial plan, he said, was to distribute 100 iPhones in Chandigarh and another 200 in Mohali.
“There is no financial constraint. We will soon expand this initiative,” Trehan said in the video message.
He further said the distribution would be carried out gradually. According to him, this is intended to prevent misuse of the initiative and maintain transparency throughout the giveaway process.

The claim has since been circulating online, with the internet offering mixed reactions to the story. While some users expressed intrigue over the video, others were irked by what they called “rubbish” claims, with one writing, “God help our country.”
Another user wrote, ”Langar is inappropriate term for such publicity stunts.”
