At least nine people died after a $2 million private jet crashed into a South Florida mobile home park — apparently demolishing at least one trailer in a massive fireball. Nine people were on board the Learjet 60 en route from Austin, Texas, to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas when it crashed into a massive fireball, the FAA said.
The plane, which had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas, took a sharp right turn before nosediving from 8,000 feet into the ground, BocaNewsNow reported.
The aircraft, believed to be a Learjet 60, crashed near Military Trail and 10th Avenue North shortly after 13:00 local time (17:00 GMT). The impact sparked a fire, scattered debris across the area and damaged at least one mobile home.
Reports said the aircraft struck a tree and brought down power lines before crashing. Videos and images from the scene showed flames, wreckage and extensive damage to the mobile home park.
