Ajay Devgn may be enjoying the success of Drishyam 3: The Conclusion, but back home in Mumbai, one of his most expensive properties has landed him in trouble with the civic body. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has demolished parts of his Juhu bungalow, saying construction work was being done there without the required permissions.
The action, carried out on October 12, came weeks after the BMC served a stop-work notice on the property. According to the civic body, internal changes, partition walls, new windows and other work had been taken up at the bungalow without approval.
More Details
The property sits at Plot S-10, NS Road No. 11, in the JVPD Scheme, inside the Kapole Co-operative Housing Society in Juhu. It is one of the most exclusive addresses in the city. The society has 32 bungalow plots, and its residents include Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan and author Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi. Ajay and Kajol’s own family home, Shivshakti, is in the same lane.
No public photos exist of the inside of the Rs 60 crore bungalow that was partly demolished. The interior pictures and stories in the media are of Shivshakti, the family home on the same lane where Ajay and Kajol actually live.
As you enter the home, a massive palace-like entrance greets you. The stone walls lend a really raw and rustic vibe to the area. Right after you step inside, a stunning spiral staircase quickly commands your attention. It gives the entire space a classy and timeless look. But perhaps the most photographed feature of the bungalow is its iconic light fixture. The lavish wooden staircase is framed by oval-shaped bulbs, creating an alluring illusion of water droplets.
According to reports, the first floor of the Shivshakti bungalow houses a lobby with white marble flooring, an elevator and a floor-to-ceiling wood-panelled glass windows. The home comes as a perfect blend of Ajay’s preference for muted tones of browns and beiges and Kajol’s lively character, creating a harmonious whole.
Right beside the lobby is an all-white living room, which features a massive six-seater dining table surrounded by leather chairs with matching cushions. The couple’s love for florals adds a personal, warm touch throughout the area. In stark contrast, is another lounge area, which features bright red leather sofas and family photographs.

Meanwhile, the Rs 60 crore bungalow down the lane is now at the centre of a civic row. After the BMC pulled down the unauthorised partition walls, windows and other interior work on October 12, plans to turn the home into a salon and spa have hit a roadblock. The Devgn camp has maintained that all the required permissions were obtained, but the civic body rejected their reply after the papers were not submitted. The matter is also being heard by the cooperative department, where the housing society’s complaint is still pending. For now, it remains unclear whether the salon will open as planned or whether the property will go back to being just another quiet bungalow on one of Juhu’s most famous streets.
